Deià and Valldemossa: the back story
Area guide

About Deià and Valldemossa: the back story
Valldemossa and Deià sit in the Serra de Tramuntana above the north-west coast: Valldemossa around its Carthusian monastery, Deià on a hillside above its cove, where Robert Graves lived.
Valldemossa
Stone lanes climb to the Real Cartuja.

Deià
Ca n’Alluny, Robert Graves’ house, keeps his study and his printing press; La Residencia, A Belmond Hotel, is on the edge of the village.
Go early, or stay the night, to have the lanes to yourself.
Our advice: drive the coast road between them in the late afternoon light.
