About Palma old town: the back story

Palma’s old town climbs from the sea walls to the cathedral and the royal palace, then spreads in narrow lanes of palaces and courtyards to the Born, the Olivar market and Plaça Major.

The waterfront

From the Parc de la Mar you see La Seu and the Almudaina above the old sea wall; Palacio Ca Sa Galesa and DINS Santi Taura are a few steps away.

Eating and shopping

Marc Fosh, Zaranda and DINS hold MICHELIN stars; for something simpler, Ca’n Joan de s’Aigo has served hot chocolate since 1700.

Most of what you want is a ten-minute walk from the cathedral.

Our advice: walk early, before the cruise visitors, and keep the afternoon for the Born and the markets.
